Dr. Andreas Lehmann is a senior researcher at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel, Germany. His work focuses on Baltic Sea oceanography, climate variability, and marine ecosystem interactions. He leads major projects like UFOTriNet (mobile fish observatory development) and 4D BALTDYN (ESA-funded Baltic Sea dynamics). As a principal investigator in over 15 projects (1996–2026), he integrates physical oceanography with biological impacts, including fisheries management, invasive species dispersal, and microplastic distribution.
His research interests span:
- Climate variability and its impact on Baltic Sea circulation/hydrography
- Upwelling dynamics and ecosystem effects
- Marine pollution and ecosystem health
- Interdisciplinary data management and model-data integration
- Fisheries sustainability under climate change
- Ocean-atmosphere interactions in marginal seas
Recent publications reveal a focus on climate-ocean coupling, larval fish ecology, and marine technology, with key collaborations across marine biology, climate science, and fisheries management. He contributes to Baltic Sea policy frameworks and climate assessments as co-author in major reports.
