Andreas König is Chaired Professor of Strategic Management, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Passau, where he serves as spokesperson for the DFG Research Training Group 2720 "Digital Platform Ecosystems". He holds visiting professor positions at Free University Amsterdam, Leipzig Graduate School of Management, ESMT Berlin, and the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
Professor König's research centers on innovation, organizational change, and leadership, with special focus on how established organizations respond to discontinuous technological change, particularly in the context of digital transformation and artificial intelligence. His work examines how top executives' personalities and mindsets affect adaptation processes and how strategic leaders address new communication challenges emerging with digitalization.
His research has been published in leading journals including Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, and Academy of Management Journal. A notable recent publication, "Kindred Spirits: Cognitive Frame Similarity and Good Faith Provisions in Strategic Alliance Contracts," published in Strategic Management Journal, demonstrates how cognitive similarity between companies influences contractual arrangements in strategic alliances.
Professor König is actively engaged in mentoring young scholars and building bridges between basic research and managerial practice. He has organized international events such as the #DPEForum2024, which brought together researchers worldwide to discuss digital platforms, and has contributed to understanding topics ranging from CEO humor to crisis management and digital transformation challenges facing traditional businesses.
