Andreas Kalogirou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Life Sciences at the European University Cyprus (EUC), affiliated with the School of Sciences. His academic qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry from University College London (2013) and a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Cyprus (2009). His research focuses on heterocyclic chemistry, particularly the synthesis and applications of thiadiazine derivatives in organic electronics, drug design, and photovoltaic materials. He has authored numerous publications in journals like Molecules and Journal of Materials Chemistry.
Dr. Kalogirou has held roles such as Assistant Scientific Editor for special issues in Molecules and Molbank, and served as a Scientific Evaluator for the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). His honors include the Bader Prize (2009) and multiple awards for academic excellence. His research projects include synthesizing thiadiazine-based inhibitors for Alzheimer’s disease and organic photovoltaic materials. He has presented at international conferences like ISCH 2017 and BOSS XII, showcasing innovative work in organic synthesis and material science.
His advisory roles include editorial board contributions and peer review for journals like Chinese Journal of Chemistry and ARKIVOC. Collaborative projects involve cross-disciplinary efforts in catalytic systems and nanocomposite materials, emphasizing green chemistry approaches. His work bridges fundamental organic chemistry with applied research in energy and biomedical fields.
