Andreas Ivarsson is a Professor at the School of Health and Welfare at Halmstad University, specializing in Sport Psychology with a focus on sustainable participation in sports and physical activity. His research spans three key areas: youth sports participation, elite athlete development, and physical activity promotion. He is also actively involved in developing methodological frameworks for sports coaching interventions and has contributed to understanding psychosocial factors influencing injury prevention and recovery in competitive athletes.
Recent work includes studies on the psychological readiness to return to sport post-injury, the impact of contextual factors on athlete performance, and the role of social support in health-related quality of life for cancer survivors. His research employs mixed-methods approaches, including longitudinal studies and latent profile analyses, to explore complex interactions between psychological, social, and environmental determinants.
Andreas has published extensively on topics such as youth sport dropout, ACL injury recovery narratives, and the design of effective coach education programs. His work bridges theoretical insights with practical applications in sports medicine, public health, and education sectors.
