Missouri University of Science and Technologyمعرفی
Dr. Andreas Eckert is an Associate Professor in Geology-Geophysics & Petroleum Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology’s College of Engineering and Computing. He directs the Rock Mechanics and Explosive Research Center and joined Missouri S&T in 2016 after earning a Ph.D. in Geophysics (2007) and a Diploma in Geophysics (2003) from the University of Karlsruhe.
- Education: Ph.D. Geophysics (University of Karlsruhe), Diploma Geophysics (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology)
His research focuses on numerical geomechanics, including finite element analysis of subsurface stress environments, buckle folding simulations, rock fabric evolution, fracture mechanics, salt tectonics, and wellbore/reservoir geomechanics. He explores CO2 sequestration safety, fault dynamics in plate boundaries, and sedimentary system modeling.
Recent publications (2022-2025) examine:
- CO2 storage risks and cement integrity
- Caribbean-Cocos triple junction earthquake potential
- Submarine lobe architecture and depositional processes
Scientific recognition includes:
- Fulbright Scholar
Key collaborations span geological CO2 sequestration, Guatemalan basin dynamics, and geomechanical failure analysis. He teaches advanced finite element methods, mechanical earth modeling, and geodynamics to graduate students.
