Andreas Cap is a Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna, with a research focus on Analysis, Geometric Structures, and Mathematical Physics. He serves as Vice-Speaker of the Vienna School of Mathematics, director of its University of Vienna branch, and DSPL (Doctoral Study Program Director) for the mathematics doctoral program.
- Research: His work centers on parabolic geometries, BGG sequences, and their applications to differential geometry, conformal/projective geometry, and mathematical physics. He leads the FWF-funded project Applications of parabolic geometries and BGG Sequences and contributes to COST Action CaLISTA.
- Publications: Recent articles explore topics like projective compactification, conformal holonomy, and Weyl structures, with a focus on invariant operators and geometric PDEs.
- Scientific service: Editor for journals including European Journal of Mathematics, Differential Geometry and Its Applications, and Monatshefte für Mathematik.
- Conferences: He has organized multiple workshops and conferences, such as the 2012 ESI program on geometry for higher spin gravity and the 2016 Brno DGA conference session.
- Contact: Office hours in fall 2023/24 are Wednesdays 10:00–11:00. Reach him at Andreas.Cap@univie.ac.at.
