Andreas Beck

Andreas Beck is a Senior Curator of Lichens and Bryophytes and Deputy Director at the Bavarian State Collection for Botany (Botanische Staatssammlung München), affiliated with Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. His research focuses on lichen systematics, coevolution between algal and fungal partners, and employs molecular, morphological, and physiological techniques. Current projects include photobiont distribution analysis, phylogenetic studies of lichen photobionts, and lichen responses to climate change. He leads the laboratory and manages online portals such as Mycology.Net and Phycology.Net. He collaborates with Prof. W. Eisenreich (TUM) on lichen metabolomics and contributes to the International Association for Lichenology (IAL).
