Current projects include analyses of authors like Maya Angelou and Ama Ata Aidoo, focusing on friendship as a decolonial tool. Pedagogically, she bridges critical theory and emotional engagement, collaborating with organizations like the Chicago Freedom School and the Akoma Institute for Afro-Indigenous girls in Brazil.
Her publications span feminist formations, postcolonial childhood studies, and digital self-representation. Research support comes from the Mellon Foundation, SSRC, and Barnard College’s Alumnae Association. Teaching focuses on Black girlhood studies, with office hours emphasizing mentorship.
