Andrea Wallace is an Associate Professor in Law and Technology at the University of Exeter Law School. She teaches Art and Law, Intellectual Property Law, Internet Law, Legal Foundations, Torts, and leads the Cultural Heritage Digitisation Lab. She co-directs the GLAM-E Lab (Law School and Digital Humanities) in partnership with the Engelberg Center on Innovation Law and Policy (NYU Law School) and serves as Deputy Director of The Centre for Science, Culture and the Law at Exeter (SCuLE).
Her research explores intersections of art and cultural heritage law with the digital realm, focusing on surrogate intellectual property (IP) rights in the cultural sector and their impact on public domain access. She received her PhD in Cultural Heritage Law from CREATe at the University of Glasgow (in partnership with the National Library of Scotland), an LLM in European Business Law from Radboud University, a JD from DePaul University College of Law, and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a registered attorney with the Illinois State Bar.
Her research supervision areas include art and cultural heritage law, open access, intellectual property, and digital technologies in the cultural sector. She contributes to research networks such as Heritage @ Exeter.
