Andrea Vigna

Andrea Vigna is a Professor at Bologna Academy of Fine Arts specializing in mural painting restoration. He teaches multiple advanced courses including Restoration of Mural Paintings 2 (4th year), Restoration of Mural Paintings 3 (5th year), and Mural Painting Techniques for Restoration (2nd year) within the Department of Restoration under the School of Fine Arts.

His research focuses on historical painting techniques and conservation methodologies for various mural types including fresco, tempera, lime paint, oil on walls, and street art. His expertise spans degradation analysis, consolidation operations, cleaning methodologies, and reintegration techniques for historical artworks.

His publication work examines 16th-century Florentine oil painting on walls, with particular focus on geographical maps restoration. His teaching methodology combines theoretical lectures with practical laboratory work and on-site restoration experiences.

Vigna has consulted on significant restoration projects including Leonardo da Vinci's murals in the Sala delle Asse at Milan's Sforza Castle and the recovery of G.B. Tiepolo's torn fresco 'Juno in the Clouds' from the Louvre Museum. His professional experience includes work on masterpieces by Beato Angelico, Paolo Uccello, Pietro da Cortona, Alessandro Allori, and Bernardino Poccetti.
