Andrea Vickery is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at SUNY Oswego, located in Lanigan Hall. She teaches courses including COM 212 (Interpersonal Communication), COM 403 (Communication Research Methods), COM 490 (Communication Service Learning), and COM 590 (Strategic COM Theses/App. Project). Her research focuses on supportive relationships, listening behaviors, and social cognition in close relationships. Office hours are Tues/Thurs 1:00-2:00 PM (in person), with additional availability via appointment.
Education includes a Ph.D. and M.A. in Communication Studies from Louisiana State University (2016 and 2012, respectively), and a B.S. in Business Administration from Chapman University (2005).
Her publications explore topics like everyday conversational patterns, listening metaphors among college students, and the role of empathic listening in interpersonal dynamics.
