Andrea Trianni is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean (Research) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Faculty of Engineering and IT. He serves as Director of Research Programs and has held Deputy Head of School roles in Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, and Information, Systems, and Modelling. His research focuses on industrial energy efficiency, sustainability, and Industry 4.0, with over 80 publications (h-index 32, 3,500+ citations). He leads projects valued over $2.5M, collaborates with global industry leaders like Schneider Electric and policy bodies such as the International Energy Agency, and advises on decarbonisation and energy productivity.
Dr. Trianni's editorial roles include Associate Editor for the Journal of Cleaner Production and Energy Efficiency, and membership on editorial boards of high-impact journals like Sustainable Futures and Production and Manufacturing Research. He is recognized as a top 2% cited scientist in Energy and Environmental Sciences (2020, 2022-2024).
His funded research spans decarbonisation of industrial processes, ESCO market development in Australia, and Industry 4.0 applications. Recent projects include a $1M+ initiative on smart home electrification and a study on barriers to Australia's ESCO market.
Teaching expertise includes sustainable operations management, industrial eco-efficiency, and Industry 4.0 technologies. He develops micro-credentials in collaboration with industry partners like Thales and Siemens, focusing on automation, statistical process control, and energy management.
Dr. Trianni is a member of Standards Australia's ANZ committee for quality systems and actively contributes to sustainability standards and policy frameworks.
