Andrea Peghinelli

Andrea Peghinelli is Associate Professor of English Literature at Sapienza University of Rome, where he teaches in the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy within the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies. His research interests span British theatre across historical periods with particular expertise in:

• Shakespeare in Performance
• Renaissance drama and Shakespeare studies
• Contemporary British Theatre
• Shakespeare adaptations and appropriations
• The chorus in contemporary theatre
• Political dimensions of theatrical performance

His scholarly output demonstrates a sophisticated engagement with how historical theatrical forms are reinterpreted in modern contexts, with recent publications showing increasing focus on polyphony, chorus structures, and social issues in contemporary British drama. His work bridges historical and contemporary theatre studies with particular emphasis on Shakespeare's enduring influence.

Dr. Peghinelli has served as Visiting Scholar at Royal Holloway University of London and was Area Leader for Italy of the Performance Shakespeare 2016 project supported by the Shakespeare 400 consortium led by King's College London. His current research projects focus on Shakespearean and Early modern appropriations in Contemporary British Drama and critical theoretical approaches to British Contemporary Dramaturgy.

He actively manages his teaching responsibilities through Google Classroom platforms, providing detailed course information and regularly posting exam results through 2025, demonstrating his ongoing academic activity. He also provides certification for students seeking CFU (crediti formativi universitari) for participation in academic seminars and conferences.
