Dr Andrea Medjesi-Jones is a Senior Lecturer in Painting at the Bath School of Art, Film and Media (Bath Spa University). Her practice interrogates the nature of painterly images through material processes, distribution systems, and value assessments in image production, informed by diverse painting traditions.

- PhD in Contemporary Painting (2009-2012), Anglia Ruskin University
Research focuses on collage methodology, fragmented representation, and the politics of abstraction. Her work explores tensions between geometric motifs and gestural remnants (e.g., masking tape shadows), emphasizing the transience of images and their socio-political implications. Recent projects include The project of abstraction (2015-2020) [REF2021].
Selected scientific awards include the Abbey Fellowship in Painting (British School in Rome, 2014) and Jerwood Contemporary Painters 2008. She has exhibited at Tate Modern, APT Gallery, and Laurent Delaye Gallery.
