Andrea Maria Lingua

Andrea Maria Lingua is a Full Professor of Geomatics at the Department of Environmental, Land and Infrastructure Engineering (DIATI), Polytechnic University of Turin. He is a founding member of the Interdepartmental Center for Service Robotics (PIC4SeR) and leads the Geomatics Lab at DIATI. He is actively involved in numerous national, European, and commercial research projects and serves on multiple scientific committees and editorial boards.

His research focuses on geomatics, digital photogrammetry, UAV-based mapping, hyperspectral imaging, and digital humanities. He applies advanced statistical and AI-driven methods to data fusion, visual odometry, and environmental and cultural heritage monitoring. His work bridges civil engineering, remote sensing, and computational modeling.

The recent publications highlight a strong trend in environmental monitoring (e.g., seagrass mapping, blue carbon), cultural heritage documentation (underwater photogrammetry), and precision agriculture using UAVs and spectral data. His work integrates photogrammetry, GIS, and machine learning for sustainable development and climate action.

He is a member of the Italian Society of Photogrammetry and Surveying (SIFET), where he served as President (2019–2022), and represents Italy in the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). He also contributes to journals such as Applied Geomatics and the Bulletin of the Italian Society of Photogrammetry and Topography.
