Andrea K. Dobson is an Associate Professor of Astronomy and General Studies at Whitman College, where she also serves as Chair of the Department of Astronomy. She earned her B.A. from Whitman College and her M.S. and Ph.D. from New Mexico State University. Her research interests focus on the solar-stellar connection, gender issues in science, and science education outreach. She has contributed extensively to astronomy education through textbook chapters and course materials, including an introductory astronomy textbook with chapters on solar system dynamics, stellar evolution, and cosmology.
Dr. Dobson's academic roles include curriculum development and departmental leadership at Whitman College. Her work integrates observational astronomy with educational initiatives aimed at broadening participation in STEM fields. She maintains active involvement in academic societies such as the American Astronomical Society and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific.
