Dr Andrea Gibbons is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Winchester. She holds a PhD from the National University of Ireland, Galway (2013), focusing on breast cancer-related distress and self-regulatory models. From 2013–2020, she served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Royal Holloway University of London, contributing to the ATTOM and SHAPED research programs addressing kidney transplantation equity and visual hallucinations in neurological conditions.
Her research spans health psychology, chronic illness management, and patient-centered care. Key areas include quality of life assessments in chronic conditions, coping mechanisms during cancer treatment, and healthcare policy barriers. She has led studies on transplantation outcomes, GP clinical judgments in chronic pain cases, and breast cancer patient experiences. Her work integrates qualitative and quantitative methodologies to inform clinical practice and policy.
Andrea’s research has been funded by NIHR and published in journals like Transplant International, Journal of Neurology, and Psycho-Oncology. She actively supervises research in chronic illness impact, cancer care, and stress adaptation, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.
