Andrea Follmer Greenhoot

Andrea Follmer Greenhoot is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at the University of Kansas, holding the distinguished Gautt Teaching Scholar title. Her academic leadership spans cognitive development research and evidence-based educational transformation initiatives.

Her educational trajectory includes a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Arizona, culminating in her faculty appointment at KU in 1999.

Dr. Greenhoot's research examines lifespan memory development, focusing on how individuals reconstruct positive and negative experiences and the interplay between memory qualities and emotional well-being. Her work integrates cognitive science with practical applications in higher education, investigating learning enhancement strategies, assessment methodologies, and institutional change models for STEM education improvement.
