Andrea Fischer

Dr. Andrea Fischer is an Associate Professor at the Department of English Linguistics, Methodology Group within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Károli Gáspár Reformed University in Budapest, Hungary. With a PhD in Educational Science (2011) from ELTE University, she specializes in teacher training, language teaching methodology, reflective thinking, and mentor training. Her academic journey began with an MA in English Language and Literature (Teacher Education) from ELTE in 1991, followed by an MEd in Teacher Education for TEFL from Exeter University in 1996.

Dr. Fischer's research centers on reflective practice in teacher education, with particular emphasis on mentor training and developing independent learning skills among teacher candidates. She has established herself as a leading expert in mentor training methodology within Hungarian higher education.

Her recent publications (2023-2024) reveal a clear trajectory toward developing comprehensive models of personal support in mentoring, with particular attention to dynamic-transitional approaches and solution-focused mentoring techniques. These works demonstrate her ongoing commitment to refining mentor-mentee relationships through structured professional development frameworks that emphasize reflective practice and problem-solving approaches.

Dr. Fischer has been instrumental in organizing five Mentor Conferences at Károli Gáspár Reformed University between 2014-2020, focusing on topics ranging from lesson planning to mentor well-being. She serves as the Methodology Group Leader and has supervised doctoral students including Hanae Ezzaouya at PPKE Doctoral School of Linguistics (2020-2024). Her international collaborations include Erasmus+ Staff Mobility programs with Jan Kochanowky University in Poland (2016) and Keimyung University in South Korea (2018).
