Andrea Diggs is a Lecturer in the School of Music at Shepherd University. She specializes in flute performance and music education, with a focus on early childhood musical training through her Note-able Minds™ program. Her career spans performances with ensembles such as the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra and Charles Washington Symphony Orchestra, alongside vocal work with groups like The City Choir of Washington.
Education: B.M. (2002) and M.M. (2004) in Flute Performance from Shenandoah University, studying under Frances Lapp Averitt and Charlene Romano. Additional training includes summer programs at the Pierre Monteux School and Flute Orchestral Institute.
Teaching experience includes private lessons (ages 4–adult) since 2008, curriculum development for early childhood and ensemble programs, and public/private school music instruction across West Virginia, Virginia, and DC. She founded the Note-able Minds™ program emphasizing improvisation-based music fundamentals.
Leadership roles include founding Board President of the Charles Washington Symphony Orchestra and adjudicator for tri-state woodwind/voice competitions. She prioritizes innovative music outreach initiatives for diverse audiences.
