Andrea Carteny

Prof. Andrea Carteny is a qualified Professor of Modern History and History of International Relations at La Sapienza University of Rome. They hold a research position in Eastern European History (M-STO/03) and lead the Future in Research 2010 unit at the University of Teramo. Their research focuses on Central-Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, and Italian Risorgimento studies. Prof. Carteny coordinates projects on Italian-Ungherese bilateral relations during the Risorgimento and manages events commemorating Italy's 150th unification. They serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the Rome Committee of the Istituto per la Storia del Risorgimento Italiano and contribute to editorial activities for RSU – Rivista di Studi Ungheresi.

Teaching responsibilities include courses on Eurasian history, international relations, and nationalism, with lessons held in the first semester (September-December 2024). Office hours are Wednesdays at 11 AM (in-person) and by prior email arrangement. Exam sessions for older courses require direct student requests.

Research highlights include a CNR-funded project (2005-2006) analyzing post-communist Transylvania's political dynamics and minority issues. Prof. Carteny is affiliated with the SARS Department's Modern History section and collaborates with institutions like the University of Debrecen and the Hungarian Academy in Rome.
