Andrea Cann Chandrasekher is a Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law. She holds a B.A. in Economics and Public Policy from Stanford University (1998), a M.A. in Statistics (2003) and Ph.D. in Economics (2009) from UC Berkeley, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School (2012). Before joining UC Davis, she served as Visiting Assistant Professor at Northwestern University School of Law (2009-2012), Visiting Researcher at Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (2011-2012), and Research Fellow at Stanford Law School.
Her research focuses on empirical arbitration, criminal justice policy, policing, and applied econometrics. Key topics include the repeat player effect in arbitration, arbitrator diversity, policing strategies, and the intersection of home foreclosures with crime. She also explores machine learning applications in legal research.
Her publications span legal and economics journals, addressing issues like police liability insurance validation, effects of police slowdowns, and probate lending innovations. Her work on consumer arbitration earned the 2017 Mangano Award.
Chandrasekher has received awards including the Stanford Law School Fellowship (2012-2013). Her current research bridges law, economics, and empirical methods, with active involvement in King Hall’s legal policy initiatives.
