Andrea Calabrò is Professor of Practice in Family Business & Entrepreneurship at SDA Bocconi School of Management. Previously, he served as Director of the Chair of Sustainable Family Business & Entrepreneurship at IPAG Business School, France, and as Professor/Chairholder of Business Administration and Family Entrepreneurship at the University of Witten/Herdecke (2011-2017). He holds a Ph.D. in Management and Governance from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

Professor Calabrò's research centers on family business dynamics, socioemotional wealth, corporate governance, and international entrepreneurship. His work appears in premier journals including Strategic Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, and Family Business Review, addressing critical issues such as transgenerational succession, crisis response strategies, and governance structures in family firms. He integrates theoretical frameworks from strategic management with practical family business challenges.
Recent publications (2024-2025) reveal a concentrated focus on socioemotional wealth preservation, CEO succession (particularly millennial leadership), international acquisition strategies, and pandemic-driven strategic pivots. These studies demonstrate methodological rigor across global contexts while bridging academic theory with actionable insights for family enterprises navigating complex transitions.
He serves as Global Academic Director of the STEP Project Global Consortium and founded both the Family Business Research Strategic Interest Group (FBR SIG) at EURAM and the International Family Business Research Forum (IFBRF). Professor Calabrò actively advises family businesses worldwide on governance, succession planning, and sustainable growth strategies, translating his academic expertise into practical frameworks for multi-generational resilience.
