Dr. Andrea Bönsch is a PostDoc and Deputy Lead of the Research Group at the IT Center's Virtual Reality Group, and Lead of the Social Virtual Reality Team at RWTH Aachen University. She holds a Master's (2015) and PhD (2024) from RWTH Aachen, focusing on navigation in immersive environments and virtual agents. Her research explores social VR, virtual agents' roles in training simulations, and pedestrian dynamics. She has advised numerous students on topics like virtual agent navigation and crowd simulations. Her work spans publications in IEEE VR, ACM IVA, and JMIR Serious Games, emphasizing user interaction, audiovisual coherence, and educational VR applications.
Key contributions include enhancing user guidance via virtual agents, studying voice quality impacts in VR lectures, and developing frameworks for factorial-design studies. Her interdisciplinary projects combine VR with psychology and acoustics, addressing challenges in social interactions and immersive environments. She is actively involved in program committees for conferences like IEEE VR and ACM IVA, and has organized workshops on virtual humans and crowds.
