Andre Klussmann

Professor Andre Klussmann serves as Professor of Ergonomics and Deputy Head of the Department of Health Sciences within the Faculty of Life Sciences at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg). He has led the Laboratory for Work and Health since 2021 and maintains active roles in international occupational health organizations.

His academic journey includes:

• 1998-1999: Paramedic training at State Rescue School of the DRK in Goslar
• 1999-2004: Safety Engineering studies at University of Wuppertal
• 2004-2005: Master's in Fire Protection at University of Wuppertal
• 2009: Doctorate in Engineering
• 2017: Habilitation

Klussmann's research centers on ergonomics and occupational health with emphasis on preventing work-related musculoskeletal disorders. His work bridges industrial engineering and healthcare through applied human factors research, focusing on practical workplace interventions and safety optimization. Current projects include EVerBA, VRiMoLa, and WAUG exploring virtual reality and ergonomic assessment methodologies.

Professional engagements include:

• Secretary of ICOH Scientific Committee 'Musculoskeletal Disorders' (2018-2021)
• Member of IEA Technical Committee on Musculoskeletal Disorders
• Member of DGAUM and GfA Occupational Physiology Forum executive committee
• Member of international PREMUS working group

Prior to HAW Hamburg, he held research positions at ASER eV institute (2005-2016), University Hospital Tübingen (2010-2017), and University of Wuppertal where he served as Head of Human Engineering Department (2017-2018). His teaching portfolio includes Ergonomics and Applied Ergonomics for Industrial Design programs.
