Andre Buehler

Prof. André Buehler is a Professor of Marketing and Sports Management at the University of Applied Sciences Nürtingen-Geislingen (HfWU). He holds key academic leadership roles, including Dean of Studies for the part-time Master's program in Process Management (M.Sc.), and Academic Director for the part-time MBA programs in International Sports Marketing and Leadership/Sports Management. He is a member of the university's Senate and actively contributes to editorial boards of academic journals like Sciamus - Sport und Management and International Journal of Sports Marketing & Sponsorship.

Education: He earned his Abitur in 1995, completed banking training (1995–1998), studied Business Administration at Nürtingen University of Applied Sciences (1998–2002), and obtained a PhD in Business & Management from the University of Plymouth (UK) in 2006, focusing on sports economics.

Research interests span Marketing Management, Sports Sponsorship, Fan Culture, Football Business, and Digitalization in Sports. His work addresses topics like brand management in sports, sustainability strategies, and social media marketing. He directs the German Institute for Sports Marketing and advises organizations such as VfB Stuttgart 1893 e.V.

Professional memberships include the Association for Sports Economics and Sports Management in Germany, UK Higher Education Academy, and the Sports Economics Working Group. He has held roles in academia, market research, and sports industry management, including leadership at the IFM Sports Group and MHMK Stuttgart.
