Andra Barbu

Andra Barbu is an Associate Professor at the University of Rouen Normandy, affiliated with the UFR Letters and Human Sciences. She holds a Doctorate in Hispanic and Hispanic-American Studies (2018) and a Master's from the University of Nottingham (2001). Her research focuses on 20th-21st century Spanish-American literature, particularly short stories exploring themes like corpse representation, literary space, and reader-aesthetic interactions. She is an Associate Member of ERIAC (Research Institute on American Cultures), contributing to its 'Forms, experiences, interpretations' research axis. Publications include monographs analyzing death narratives and peer-reviewed articles on Cortázar, García Márquez, and contemporary authors. Teaching responsibilities span Latin American literature, methodology courses, and language instruction for engineers.

Research interests emphasize the interplay between reality and fiction, possible worlds theory, and the spatialization of narratives. Her work bridges literary analysis with reception theory, examining how texts construct meaning through corporeal imagery and metafictional devices. ERIAC collaborations involve interdisciplinary projects on vulnerability and critical thinking. Teaching includes LLCER (French-taught Spanish courses) and LEA (European Languages and Civilizations) programs.
