Dr. Andony Melathopoulos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University's College of Agricultural Sciences. He leads research on pollinator health, focusing on native and managed bees in agricultural and natural landscapes. His work examines pesticide risks through large-scale label analysis and exposure estimation, and he directs the Oregon Bee Atlas—a volunteer-driven native bee inventory program.
Research interests center on pesticide applicator education, residual toxicity, and enhancing floral resources for bees in collaboration with weed scientists and agronomists. His publications demonstrate a strong focus on pesticide ecotoxicology, pollinator conservation in cropping systems, and sustainable pollination management.
Dr. Melathopoulos advises multiple graduate students investigating pesticide label language, exposure pathways, and pollination efficacy in crops like blueberries. He maintains active collaborations across disciplines to improve forage availability in working landscapes.
