Andile Mthombeni

Andile Mthombeni is a Lecturer at the Department of Family Medicine, University of the Witwatersrand, and a soon-to-be Masters graduate in Research Psychology from the same institution. She holds a BA and BAHons from the University of Pretoria and an MPhil in Public Health.

Her research focuses on knowledge production in South African Black fatherhood, gender-based violence, young women’s leadership, and HIV/AIDS. She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and special issues on sexual harassment in higher education and gender dynamics.

Recent work includes a 2023 Heliyon article analyzing LGBTQI+ terminology preferences and a 2016 BMJ Open scoping review on gender-based violence and fatherhood. Her research bridges sociology, public health, and gender studies.
