معرفی
Anders Ågmo is a Professor at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, specializing in Aging, Behavior, and Dementia. His research focuses on sexual motivation, neuroendocrinology, and sociosexual behaviors in mammals, with a particular emphasis on cross-species comparisons between rodents and humans. He leads the Behavioral Neuroscience research group and has authored over 150 publications, including influential works on sexual incentive motivation models, hormonal influences on behavior, and seminatural animal testing environments. His work bridges preclinical studies and clinical applications, particularly in understanding sexual dysfunction and neural mechanisms of desire.
Key research areas include the role of androgen receptors, estrogen signaling pathways, and adrenergic systems in sociosexual behavior. He advocates for ethologically valid experimental designs, such as seminatural environments for rodents, to improve translational relevance. Ågmo's contributions span behavioral neuroscience, endocrinology, and comparative psychology, with notable publications in Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, Annual Review of Psychology, and Frontiers in Neuroscience.
His recent work addresses gaps in preclinical and clinical evaluations of sexual motivation, emphasizing the need for improved treatment models. Collaborations include studies on vocalization roles in sociosexual interactions and the impact of pubertal stress on adult sexual behavior. Ågmo’s research also explores ethical and methodological challenges in translating animal behavior studies to human contexts.
