معرفی
Anders Petersen is an Associate Professor in quantitative methods at the Department of Psychology, University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Social Sciences. His office hours are Wednesdays 12:00-13:00, and he can be contacted at anders.petersen@psy.ku.dk or +4535324884. He is affiliated with the Center for Visual Cognition within the department.
His educational background includes an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Copenhagen (2005) and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the same institution (2010).
Petersen's research focuses on developing tools for investigating human visual attention and short-term memory by using mathematical modeling, eye tracking, and EEG. His work contributes to the continuous development of the Theory of Visual Attention (TVA). A major focus has been on developing paradigms to measure temporal dynamics of visual attention, and he has developed the first quantitative stochastic model explaining the attentional dwell-time phenomenon as well as the first TVA model applied to mouse data from the 5-CSRTT attention task.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on advancing computational models of visual attention, particularly the Theory of Visual Attention (TVA). His work spans both theoretical developments and practical applications, including studies on attentional blink, attentional dwell time, and cross-species applications of attention models. There's a clear progression from foundational work on mathematical modeling of attention to more applied research in clinical contexts and naturalistic settings.
Petersen has secured significant research funding including 'Are you in control? The Cognitive Control and Arousal Project (CoCoA)' from the Independent Research Fund Denmark (2020-2024) and 'Individualised Diagnostics and Rehabilitation for Attentional disorders (INDIREA)' as part of an EU Marie Curie Initial Training Network (2013-2017), where he led the Danish cluster.
As an educator, Petersen coordinates Statistics I and II at BA level, teaches Statistics at MA level, offers summer courses in statistics at both levels, and teaches Cognitive Psychology at BA level. Administratively, he has served as Work Environment representative and as a member of the Collaboration Committee for the Department of Psychology since 2015. His research has been referenced in Wikipedia pages, mentioned on social media platforms, and has garnered attention from academic readers on platforms like Mendeley.
