معرفی
Anders Jerkstrand is a Docent (Associate Professor) at the Department of Astronomy, Stockholm University, specializing in supernovae and kilonovae. His research focuses on spectral synthesis modeling to diagnose cosmic element formation, ejection mechanisms, and nucleosynthesis. He leads the supernova group, which includes PhD students and postdocs working on 3D simulations, element production, and kilonova atomic physics.
- Developed spectral synthesis tool SUMO (public release)
- 2020 Science paper identifying unprecedented emission lines in Type IIn supernovae
- Co-developed EXTRASS, a 3D spectral synthesis tool
His work combines radiative transfer physics, explosive transients, and cosmic chemistry. Key projects include JWST infrared supernova studies and multi-messenger kilonova analysis.
Scientific funding includes:
- ERC Starting Grant
- Swedish Research Council grant
- Wallenberg foundation collaboration grant
Previous group members now hold positions at institutions including MPA Garching, FOI, and Liverpool John Moores University.
