Anders Hamsten is a Professor of Cardiovascular Diseases at Karolinska Institute, where he has held academic, clinical, and leadership roles since 1987. His career includes serving as Vice-Chancellor (President) of Karolinska Institute (2013-2018), Senior Consultant in Cardiology at Karolinska University Hospital (1991-present), and leadership of the Atherosclerosis Research Unit (1987-present). He has contributed extensively to research on cardiovascular diseases, genomics, and atherosclerosis.
