Anders Daugberg is a PhD Fellow at the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience within The Faculty of Engineering and Science at Aalborg University. He works in the Section of Environmental Microbiology, specializing in Microbial Ecology and Biofilms research.
His research focuses on environmental microbiology with particular emphasis on:
- Functional bacterial amyloids (FuBA) and their role in microbial communities
- Microbial ecology in wastewater treatment systems
- Biofilm formation and structure
- Interactions between pathological and functional amyloids
- Genotypic and phenotypic analyses of multispecies microbial communities
Dr. Daugberg is actively involved in the REThiNk project (2022-2027), which focuses on "Recovery of extracellular polymers from wastewater treatment residuals as a new circular biopolymer." This project is funded by Otto Mønsteds Fond, Novo Nordisk Foundation, and International Water Association Denmark.
His publication record shows expertise spanning structural biology of functional amyloids to applied environmental engineering in wastewater systems. Recent work examines bacterial amyloid structures, microbial community dynamics, and resource recovery from wastewater treatment processes.
Notable recognition:
- AAU Biotech Scholarship (September 2022)
Dr. Daugberg collaborates extensively with researchers across multiple institutions, with particular focus on understanding microbial communities in engineered systems and their potential applications in biotechnology and environmental sustainability. His work bridges fundamental protein science with practical environmental engineering applications.
