Anders D. Olofsson is a Professor of Education at the Department of Education, Umeå University, Sweden. He also serves as a Guest Professor in Informatics at the University of Gothenburg. As the national coordinator for the graduate schools GRADE, UPGRADE, and LIKED, he leads interdisciplinary research initiatives in digital technologies and education.

His research explores how digital tools shape teaching practices and policy implementation, particularly in K-12 and higher education contexts. Key themes include professional digital competence (PDC), rural resilience in digital policy adaptation, and the interplay between national strategies and local educational practices.
Recent Trends in Publications: His work emphasizes critical analyses of digital policy gaps, such as the disconnect between national digitalization strategies and their local implementation. Recent studies highlight rural schools’ adaptive strategies and the challenges of defining “adequate digital competence” for educators.
