Ander Beristain is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Linguistics at Saint Louis University, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. (2022), M.A. (2018), and B.A. (2016) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Universidad del País Vasco respectively. His research focuses on phonetics/phonology, aerodynamics of speech, bilingualism, and Basque linguistics. He teaches courses on linguistics, Spanish language pedagogy, and applied data science.

**Research**: Explores understudied languages/dialects, bilingual speech patterns, and heritage language acquisition. Recent work includes aerodynamic analysis of nasalization in Spanish/English bilinguals and acoustic studies of Basque sibilants.
**Awards**: Multiple teaching awards from SLU and UIUC, including the Morris Halle Memorial Award in Phonology (2025) and Helen I. Mandeville Award (2025). Recognized for excellence in language education and phonetic research.
**Service**: Leadership roles in SPGO/UIUC Senate, mentorship programs for first-gen students, and advocacy for linguistic diversity. Co-founded professionalization workshops for linguistics graduate students.
