Anca-Larisa Sandu-Giuraniuc

Dr. Anca-Larisa Sandu-Giuraniuc is a Lecturer at the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, University of Aberdeen. Affiliated with the Aberdeen Biomedical Imaging Centre, she leads research in structural/functional MRI, cortical complexity analysis, and brain ageing. Her work bridges neuroimaging with epigenetics and mental health epidemiology.

Scientific Awards include the 2017 Best Psychiatry Research Article Prize. She supervises PhD studies on cortical complexity and leads grants totaling £139,081, including projects on:

• Functional connectivity and cognitive resilience
• Hippocampal subfields in dementia
• Brain predictors of cognitive decline

Her teaching includes Statistics and Maths for Imaging modules in Medical Physics programs.
