Anaís Garrell Zulueta

Anaís Garrell Zulueta is an Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and a Robotics Researcher at the Robotics Institute (CSIC-UPC). She serves as Vice-Director of the Mobile Robotics and Intelligent Systems subline.

Education:

• B.S. in Mathematics (2006) from University of Barcelona (UB) under its excellence program
• Diploma d'Estudis Avançats (DEA) in Control, Vision, and Robotics (2007) from UPC
• European Doctorate (2013) from IRI, UPC/CSIC with Excellent Cum Laude honors

Research Interests: Her work focuses on robot cooperation, human-robot interaction, people motion behavior, and robot companions. Current projects include TORNADO (foundation models for robots handling deformable objects), HandIA (AI-based hand rehabilitation), and LENA (lifelong navigation learning). Older work includes social-force models for urban navigation and human-assisted learning frameworks.

Scientific Contributions:

• Second prize for best Spanish robotics thesis (2013)
• Key publications in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, ACM/IEEE HRI, and Springer book chapters
