Anatoly Frenkel

Anatoly Frenkel is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering at Stony Brook University. His research focuses on the physico-chemical properties of nanomaterials, catalytic mechanisms, and advanced materials characterization techniques. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Tel Aviv University (1995) and has held academic positions at Yeshiva University (2007–2016) and research roles at institutions like the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1996–2001).

Key research interests include heterogeneous catalysis, nanomaterial synthesis, machine learning applications in materials science, and synchrotron-based methodologies. Notable awards include Fellow of the American Physical Society (2017) and the Weston Visiting Professorship at the Weizmann Institute (2015–2025).
