Anastassia Vybornova serves as a visiting postdoctoral researcher at the Complexity Science Hub Vienna (CSH), with dual affiliations at the Copenhagen Center for Social Data Science (SODAS) at the University of Copenhagen and the NEtwoRks, Data & Society (NERDS) group at the IT University of Copenhagen. She additionally holds leadership as Chair of the Young Academy Panel of the Danish Data Science Academy.
Her academic foundation includes a PhD in Urban Data Science complemented by interdisciplinary training in Technical Physics, Transcultural Communication, and Environmental Science. This multifaceted background enables her cross-domain research approach.
Research centers on actionable mitigation of spatial inequalities through three interconnected pillars: algorithmic bias in urban planning systems, intersectional analysis of social-spatial networks, and development of geospatial data science tooling. Her work critically examines individualistic biases in computational urban segregation models, exemplified by her upcoming December 2025 CSH Talk addressing computational demobilization of bias. This integrates data science with critical urban studies to drive equitable spatial interventions.
Active within the NERDS research collective and SODAS network, she contributes to interdisciplinary collaborations advancing socially conscious data science applications in urban governance and policy design.
