Anastasia Vlasova, DVM, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at The Ohio State University, primarily affiliated with the Department of Animal Sciences and the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. Her role is split 90% research and 10% extension.
She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Virology from the Ivanovsky Institute for Virology (Moscow, Russia) and a DVM from the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology. Her research focuses on the pathogenesis, epidemiology, and immunity of enteric viruses, particularly rotaviruses (RVs) and coronaviruses (CoVs), with an emphasis on zoonotic potential and mucosal immune responses. Key models include gnotobiotic pigs and intestinal organoids.
Her work explores how innate immunity, microbiota, and dietary factors influence viral infections and vaccine efficacy. Notable projects include studying SARS-CoV-2 antibody interactions, probiotic modulation of rotavirus pathogenesis, and the evolutionary dynamics of CoVs. She leads a lab investigating viral-host interactions and public health implications of emerging pathogens.
