Anastasia Christofakis is an Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She holds a Doctor of Music (DM) from Florida State University, a Master of Music (MM) from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, and a Bachelor of Music Education (BM) from James Madison University.
Her research and creative work focuses on expanding new music's accessibility and diversity, including collaborations with Meraki Duo and the ensemble What is Noise. She has received grants from Chamber Music America (2018), the Presser Foundation (2014–2015), and Montgomery County (2018). Her work on Armenian music history, supported by the Presser Foundation, has been published in The Clarinet and presented nationally.
Professionally, she coordinates the Chamber Music Intensive at New England Music Camp and serves as Vice President of Education and Community Outreach for What is Noise. She has held roles with Sistema Ravinia, InterHarmony International Music Festival, and led residencies at institutions like Berklee College of Music and the Parish School. She performs on Firebird clarinets and is a Royal Global Performance Artist.
Her recent projects include an album release with Meraki Duo (Within, 2022) and collaborative work with composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, resulting in the premiere of Heloha Okchamali (Blue Thunder) in 2019.
