Ananya Dasgupta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Case Western Reserve University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her office is located in Mather House Room 207, with office hours on Wednesdays from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Her scholarly work focuses on colonialism, nationalism, religion and modernity in South Asia, with special emphasis on Islam. She specializes in cultural histories of capitalism, popular resistance, and subaltern studies spanning the 19th and 20th centuries. Her teaching interests include modern/pre-modern South Asian history, historiography approaches, histories from below, women's histories in South Asia, and developing courses on connected histories exploring cultural/material exchanges between South Asia and other regions.
