Ananda Portela Fontoura is a Research Fellow in the Department of Animal Science at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University, where she works under Dr. Mike Van Amburgh's supervision.
Education:
- DVM, Universidade Federal do Pará, Brazil
- MS in Ruminant Nutrition, North Dakota State University
- PhD in Animal Science, Cornell University
Research Interests: Her work spans Animal Science with specialized focus on Ruminant Nutrition and Dairy Science, addressing Climate Change through Methane Reduction strategies in cattle production systems. She investigates sustainable dairy practices and climate resiliency in livestock management.
Research Programs: She actively contributes to the Nutrient Management Spear Program (NMSP) and participated in developing Cornell's new animal respiration stalls facility for methane emission research, as highlighted in the April 2024 campus news. Her international research was presented at the 75th European Association for Animal Production meeting in Florence, Italy (September 2024).
