Anand Srinivasan

Anand Srinivasan is an Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School in the Department of Finance. He previously served as Head of the Department of Finance at NUS. Before joining NUS, he was an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Georgia. His academic appointments at NUS include Assistant Professor (2005-2007) and Associate Professor (since 2008).

Dr. Srinivasan earned his Bachelor's in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University, and a PhD in Finance from New York University.

His primary research focuses on banking, with significant contributions to understanding financial distress, corporate finance, fixed income, bankruptcy, executive stock options, and real estate. His work has appeared in top finance journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Real Estate Economics. His applied research on the airline industry was instrumental in justifying an international treaty on secured debt financing for the airline sector, which has been signed and ratified by multiple countries including the United States, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and India.

His publications demonstrate consistent excellence in banking research, particularly examining relationship banking, creditor rights, and financial distress. His work often bridges theoretical finance with practical applications, as evidenced by his influential research that directly impacted international treaty formation.
