Anand Padmanabhan

Anand Padmanabhan, MBBS, Ph.D., is a Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His work focuses on platelet immunology and coagulation disorders, particularly heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), and monoclonal gammopathy of thrombotic significance (MGTS). He has developed improved diagnostic tests for anti-platelet factor 4 (PF4) antibody-related diseases and contributed to clinical guidelines for apheresis therapy.

His group identified MGTS as a novel prothrombotic condition and advanced therapies for thrombosis and thrombocytopenia. Professional memberships include the American Society of Hematology (since 2013), AABB (since 2010), and the College of American Pathologists (since 2023).
