Dr. Anaelle Lemasson is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the School of Biological and Marine Sciences, part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Plymouth. Her research focuses on the ecological impacts of decommissioning offshore oil and gas structures, marine eco-engineering, and the multifunctionality of coastal interventions. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through her work on marine environmental management.
Education includes a PhD in Marine Sciences (2015–2018, Plymouth University), an MRes in Marine Biology (2013–2014), and a BSc in Marine Biology and Oceanography (2009–2013, Skema School/Plymouth University). Her doctoral research examined ocean acidification effects on shellfish fisheries, while her MRes explored non-native ascidian biology.
She is an Associate Editor for Oceanography and Marine Biology: An Annual Review (2020–present), Aquatic Conservation (2020–2023), and Journal of Applied Ecology (2019–2021). Her recent projects include the INSITE DREAMS initiative, analyzing decommissioning strategies for offshore structures, and the INSITE Synthesis project, evaluating societal and ecological impacts of artificial marine structures.
Based at the Marine Biology and Ecology Research Centre (MBERC), her work bridges environmental science and policy, emphasizing evidence-based solutions for marine sustainability.
