Prof. Anaclet Ngezahayo is an Adjunct Professor at the Leibniz University Hannover, affiliated with the Department of Cell Physiology and Biophysics under the Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on cell biology, biophysics, and membrane dynamics, particularly studying gap junctions, hemichannels, and their roles in epithelial cells, cancer, and stem cell physiology. He also holds administrative roles managing the Department of Cell Physiology and Biophysics and serves as a BAFÖG Officer in Life Science.

Research interests include connexin function in epithelial barriers, drug delivery using gold nanoparticles, and laser-based cell manipulation techniques. His work spans applications in cancer therapy, tissue engineering, and understanding cellular communication mechanisms. Recent studies explore the role of connexin hemichannels in respiratory epithelial barrier integrity under inflammatory conditions (e.g., LPS exposure) and the development of allosteric inhibitors for metastatic cancer suppression.
Publications highlight contributions to cell biology methodologies (e.g., fs-laser nanosurgery, GNOME laser perforation) and molecular mechanisms governing gap junction regulation. Collaborative projects involve interdisciplinary approaches combining biophysics, nanotechnology, and pharmacology.
