Ana Vuleta

Ana Vuleta is a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković", a National Institute of the Republic of Serbia affiliated with the University of Belgrade. She works in the Department of Evolutionary Biology, where she conducts research on plant responses to environmental stressors.

Ana Vuleta has been employed at the Institute for Biological Research since 2005. Her primary research focuses on the adaptive responses of plants, particularly Iris pumila L., to changing and stressful abiotic environmental factors in natural settings. She investigates biological responses at various levels, from proteins to phenotypes, with emphasis on how plants respond to variations in light intensity and temperature. A significant aspect of her work examines enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants that protect biological macromolecules from damage caused by reactive oxygen species during oxidative stress. Additionally, she explores plant compounds as potential biological insecticides and repellents against insect pests. Her research spans the interdisciplinary fields of Eco-Evo-Devo, Ecophysiology, and the Physiology and Molecular Biology of Plants, with a particular focus on understanding plant responses to climate change.
