Ana Podolski-Renić

Dr. Ana Podolski-Renić is a Principal Research Fellow at the Department of Neurobiology, Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" - National Institute of the Republic of Serbia (IBISS), which operates under the University of Belgrade. She serves as Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Neuro-Oncology at the institute.

Dr. Podolski-Renić earned her BSc degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology in 2006 and her PhD in Biology in 2013, both from the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Biology.

Her research focuses on investigating mechanisms of action of new antitumor agents to overcome multidrug resistance in cancer and developing new therapeutic approaches for malignant tumors. Her work spans cancer biology, natural products, redox biology, and neurobiology, employing experimental biomedicine and preclinical studies to address challenges in cancer treatment, particularly multidrug resistance mechanisms.

Dr. Podolski-Renić has led significant research projects including the "TargetedResponse" project funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia and served as work package coordinator for the "MilkIng" strategic project of SANU. She has participated in international collaborations such as the "Therapy optimization in glioblastoma" project funded by the James S. McDonnell Foundation and the "THIOREDIN" ERA.Net RUS+ project. She currently serves on the Management Board of COST Action CA22125 (Precision-BTC-Network).

• Fellowship of European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) for participation in the ESMO Congress 2017 in Madrid
• Award of Foundation "Goran Ljubijankic" for the best doctoral thesis in molecular biology defended in 2013
• Fellowship of COST Action BM0703 (CANGENIN) to attend the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens in Greece, 2010

Dr. Podolski-Renić began her career at IBISS in 2007 as a research trainee, was promoted to research assistant in 2009, research associate in 2014, and senior research associate in 2019. Her laboratory bridges molecular oncology with neurobiology, exploring the intersection of cancer mechanisms and nervous system function, positioning her work at the forefront of innovative cancer research in Serbia.
